We met with Rory Macmillan, Principal, for a quick meet and greet, then Catherine Armstrong, Associate Vice President of Group External Affairs, facilitated the session for the rest of the day. We had a short conversation about corporate/financial communications, and then a case study was handed around. After we had time to read it the phone rang. From the outset we were all glued by her representation of ‘crisis comms’. There was a journalist on the line waiting to hear our response to the situation.
Cat walked us through the ins and outs of social media responses, press statements, interacting with journalists and what sort of information to feed them.
By the end of the day we were all sold that this was a fast paced, news orientated, and vital aspect of business, and I really felt an injection of enthusiasm.
